Sir Knight Richard R. Pettys, Jr. began his internet ministry as one of the programmers for AOL's Catholic Community, where he worked alongside S.K. Dean Mitchell in programming content for members of AOL.  He joined the Catholic Community in early 1997.  Richard remained with AOL's Catholic Community for almost two years after the departures of S.K. Dean Mitchell and Fr. Roy Henderson.  He stayed in an effort to keep the Catholic Community Catholic.  He left because AOL would no longer allow him to program Catholic content in 1999.

When he left AOL, Richard started the website at saintboniface.com.  The website was a smorgasbord of all things Catholic and included the lives of the saints, a litany of Catholic prayers including the Rosary, all three cycles of Mass readings, a history of the popes, the documents of the church councils over the years, and, most importantly to him, the entire Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church (translated from Latin to avoid copyright problems).

Richard joined the Knights of Columbus in July 1998.  He took his second and third degrees in August 1998, and joined the fourth degree in October 1999.  He now maintains two KofC web pages: one for his Council found at http://www.knightsite.org/kc4599/ and one for his Assembly at http://www.knightsite.org/sk2161/.
