Brother Dean Mitchell made a major contribution to the K of C online presence with his involvement in one of the very first K of C Chat Rooms and K of C Message Boards. Although it is no longer in existence, America Online once sponsored a K of C Message Board and a Knights of Columbus Chat Room hosted by Roman Catholic Priests and Brother Knights. These K of C services were available in the mid-1990's. According to available information, a Priest from Pennsylvania, Joan Oliva (daughter of a 4th Degree Sir Knight), and Dean were part of a handful of people that were instrumental in getting these services off the ground and online. Some of the discussions on the K of C Chat Room sparked the beginnings of many new K of C website and K of C Internet service ideas. The K of C message board was very popular and helped connect Brother Knight needing assistance with those that could assist. It was wonderful while it lasted. Several K of C Councils have since sponsored websites that have replaced these services with their own K of C Chat Rooms and K of C Message Boards.
